Meaning of Fusion

what is Fusion:

Fusion refers to the action and the effect of melt or burn out. It comes from the latin fusion, fusionis, which in turn is derived from fusum, supine fundere, meaning ‘melting’.

Fusion can designate a union: ideas, interests or projects. In politics, for example, a merger of parties motivated may occur to a strategy for electoral purposes. Similarly, can we talk about fusion to indicate the meeting of two or more things in one: two or more powers in a State, or of two or more departments in a company.

In addition, in areas such as food, the combination of styles, flavors and ingredients from different countries and cultures is a culinary practice known as fusion. The same thing in the music when you experience with the fusion of different genres, such as the symphonic rock or variety referred to in the jazz fusion, which can be grouped with jazz, salsa, bossa nova and rock.

Fusion in physics

Fusion is a concept of physics which refers to the process that experiences a substance when, having reached its melting point, passes from solid to liquid, by the action of an increase in temperature and a certain pressure.

Melting point

Melting point know the temperature in which a merger takes place, considering the pressure. It is constant and unchanging when a substance is subjected to normal pressure. Similarly, its temperature will be constant during the time of the merger, i.e., once reached the melting point will not increase. Melting point varies from substance in substance, and therefore representing a characteristic property for each element. In water, for example, the melting point occurs at 0° C atmosphere pressure.

Melting and boiling

An increase of temperature, beyond the melting point, take the substance, already in the liquid state at its boiling point and, accordingly, will be passing to the gaseous state.

Fusion and solidification

Melting point coincides with the point of solidifying or freezing, i.e. in the opposite direction: the passage of a liquid to solid state by decrease of the temperature at a given pressure.

Nuclear fusion

In physics, nuclear fusion

refers to the exothermic nuclear reaction produced by the union of two light atomic nuclei, giving way to a heavier nucleus and a major release of energy. Solar energy, for example, originated by the nuclear fusion of hydrogen that occurs in the Sun, so it is in the rest of the stars in the universe. Nuclear fusion is fundamental in the reaction of thermonuclear bombs or hydrogen bombs.

Nuclear fusion and nuclear fission

As nuclear fission is designated the nuclear reaction that occurs when a heavy atom’s nucleus splits into two or more nuclei which, consequently, will be lighter. In this sense, nuclear fission is the reverse of nuclear fusion, which consists of the union of the nuclei of light atoms to form one heavier. Both, however, are exothermic processes, as they release a significant amount of energy.

Fusion in chemistry

Within the field of chemistry, fusion applies to develop different tasks, such as the separation of a substance fuse other refractory, procedure called fusion or liquefaction separation; to join two or more substances in a homogeneous mass, used for alloy metals; as well as the chemical union of different substances, with the aim of creating a new chemical compound.

Merger of companies

In law business, as fusion are called the union or integration of two or more companies, societies or legally independent persons, which are diluted to form a new company with a different from the earlier legal individuality, and combining their assets. This type of merger is called pure fusion. If, on the other hand, one of the companies is diluted and the other maintaining its identity, increasing the total equity, with the fusion is called fusion by absorption. If it is companies that offer products or services of the same area, and compete with each other, then their merger strengthens them face to the market, so it would be a horizontal merger. If we are in the presence of two companies that do not compete with each other, but could complement within the supply chain, as a construction company and a supplier of building materials, then it’s a vertical merger.
